You may recall that Brandle begins every new customer Entity Account with a Discovery of other owned domains (and associated websites) via a query of the Domain Name System based on a look-up of the company's primary and other key domains. We then pull in all of the corporate registered domains and websites into Inventory and collect the main identities the company has registered. Why? Because every company registers its company name, brands, defensive identities, programs, and other intellectual property as a domain. This adds to the Brandle discovery and ranking algorithm for your account. This also gives Brandle a set of fingerprints for how the company registers domains.
All of this information helps Brandle to Discover:
- Properly registered company domains;
- Improperly registered company domains;
- Personal domains created with an employee corporate email account;
- Social media accounts which reference official company domains and websites;
- Social media accounts that use a known corporate identity.
Brandle performs this service at the initiation of every customer account and on the annual license renewal date to update information and look for any newly registered domains in the DNS.
NOW you may choose to have Brandle perform a DNS Discovery on a more frequent schedule such as weekly, monthly, or quarterly. This benefit is especially good for:
- Customers who have an active Digital Team reviewing websites and domains;
- Customers who have experienced a merger or acquisition (M&A) to ensure ownership of domains and control of websites are maintained via proper domain registration;
- Customers who have new regulations about employees using company email for personal websites, so you can require that they change the associated email;
- Social Media customers whose companies have had M&A or recent product introductions to ensure all new identities are added for social media Discovery.
If you'd like to update your DNS Discovery schedule, just ask your Brandle Ambassador for the pricing associated with your preferred schedule.
