Brandle's HTML Content Analysis feature retrieves and analyzes the HTML content of a web page. This feature is useful to all digital teams, whether they are managing websites or social media, as makes governance of large portfolios simple to govern as it provides the capability to:
- Detect the presence of an actual web page at a URL
- Determine if a web page has a form, which may be collecting personally identifiable information (PII)
- Discover new or ungoverned social media referenced by a web page.
- Detect Meta-Tags which are used for Apple, Google, and Facebook Domain Verifications.

Content Detection
With HTML Content Analysis running in connecting with POP HTTP Monitoring, the system will retrieve and parse the HTML of a web page at a given URL. The system will then look for HTML elements like Titles, Divs, Forms, Links, and Scripts, which are likely to indicate that the page actually has content present. The system is smart enough to detect and ignore pages which are parked/for-sale by the common domain registration companies.
Form Detection on Website Pages
Brandle is adding the ability to detect forms (HTML <form></form> tags) on website pages when HTML Content Analysis is enabled. This allows the digital and risk teams to quickly see if there is a form on a page, allowing the risk/legal team the ability to know where data collection is occurring and ensure data is collected accurately for all GDRP and privacy-related issues.
The HTML Content Analysis feature is an additional service fee. Ask your Brandle Ambassador for more information.
URLs Referenced by a Web Page
During HTML Content Analysis, the system will extract the URLs of links which are pointing to websites that are on domains that are not on the same domain as the website currently being analyzed. This helps to discover new sites and social media, which someone felt was important enough to reference on this web page.
Detection of Domain Verification Meta Tags
This feature will detect and report any HTML META tags it finds on that website under the "Verifications View" in the Domains tab. This is very useful now that Apple has released iOS 14 and "Opt-in" privacy is the default. As a result enterprises are working to ensure the domains are verified with Apple and Facebook to help bridge any gaps created in their ad tracking, attribution, and re-targeting efforts.
Any verification string, that is found in an HTML META tag, will be retrieved and reported against the associated Domain (on the Domains tab) with the "(META-TAG)" designation. This is addition to any Domain verifications that are found a TXT record during DNS Monitoring of a domain, which will be shown with the "(DNS-TXT)" designation next to the verification string.
